A man's castle is his castle

the de coucy household
The Duke de Coucy's current home is located in Hightown, Kirkwall, previously overseen by his granddaughter, Gwenaëlle Baudin, who he installed there with a small household before being obliged to return to Orlais. It is owned by a local merchant whose business has suffered in the war and who had been living beyond his means; most of the interior furnishings that were not supplied by Mlle Baudin for her bedroom furnishings were purchased from him with the rental of his property. It is gated back from the street and boasts a private courtyard with a water feature overlooked by balconies at the back of the house, walled to separate it from the closest neighbour. The library is the split-level centerpiece of the home, and the ballroom has been recently renovated and repurposed as a training facility.
Visiting wardens who are not Alistair will be politely but firmly turned away. Previous residents include Lady Morrigan's son Kieran (as ward of Mlle Baudin), Thranduil (for security, prior to his appointment as a division head) and Enchanter Julius (as the Provost's replacement).
